Danielle Allen is the James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University and the Director of Harvard’s Edmond J.Safra Center for Ethics. Allen, a political theorist and classicist, is widely recognized for her work on justice and citizenship.  Committed to personal involvement with the world outside the academic community, Allen is the principal investigator for the Democratic Knowledge Project at Harvard.  A former MacArthur Foundation Fellow and past Chair of the Pulitzer Prize Board, she is exploring a candidacy for Massachusetts governor in 2022.

David Kidd is the project director of Humanities and Liberal Arts Assessment (HULA) at Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Project Zero and the chief assessment scientist for the Democratic Knowledge Project at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University. He uses social scientific methods to understand how the humanities support human development, with current projects focused on developing tools for evaluation and assessment in civic and ethics education.
